Our solutions are unique in the industry and are designed to be as versatile as possible; we can truly say that we can support and design solutions for any need safety enclosures with features you pick.

LNG facilities, crude oil refineries, offshore rigs and petrochemical plants need maintenance either while shutdown or while in operation. In either case, work may need to be performed where there is a chance that an explosive, flammable, and/or poisonous gas or vapor could infiltrate the work site during the course of the work, and such environments are called “live environments”.

TUFFss™ solutions are aimed at providing safe offerings for such environments.

TUFFss™ believe that current practice of using either no protection, loose covering with tarp or even with simple Habitats only providing positive pressure with monitoring is not sufficient or adequate. In many circumstances, it could result in injury to workers and massive capital losses to equipment.

TUFFss™ is offering more safe, robust systems and methods allowing work to proceed both during normal operation of facilities, and during shutdown periods, and during planned maintenance.

Our solutions, systems and methods are directed to these needs.

TUFF Safe Maintenance Solution (SMS) offers the world premiere of a full circle project of fabric and CUI maintenance for LNG facilities, petrochemical plants and refineries with, for example, insulation removal, grit blasting, painting, TSA, and insulation re-application within a climate controlled and safe enclosed environment (Habitat). All of this is, of course, performed in an online environment.

Our positive pressure Habitat is created using the Tri-Diamond™ design. The simplicity of our product makes the solutions stronger and easier to work with in any size or configuration. The Tri-Diamond™ design of the panels used to make the Habitats are far superior in functionality, usability, flexibility and modularity compared to any other solution available in the industry.


The TUFF Safe Maintenance Solution (SMS) consists of 5 core elements that works in unison to provide a safe, productive and efficient work environment when the client is doing maintenance, repairs, turnarounds, etc.

The first part is the TUFF Shrink Wrap Habitat. The main function of the Habitat is to contain Hot-Work, grit blasting, TSA and potential gas leaks inside the work zone. The secondary purpose is to provide protection and containment from adverse weather conditions such as sun, rain, wind and snow. This makes it possible for your crew to work in virtually any kind of weather situation. The Habitats are erected utilizing TUFF Shrink Wrap, which provides a durable, drum tight professional solution that can withstand high winds, adverse weather conditions and chemical exposure.

The TUFF Shrink Wrap Habitat as a full and complete enclosure Along with our custom Industrial Heating and Cooling (HVAC) systems, we can ensure that the temperature and humidity are maintained within your set parameters. In combination with our custom built Dust Collection system, we also make sure the air has high visibility – even while doing grit blasting.

Tri-Diamond™ Habitat

The main focus of the Tri-Diamond™ Habitat is to make Hot-Work safe through maintaining a positive pressure inside the Habitat to keep out potentially flammable or poisonous gases that may exist outside the hot-work environment and also to ensure spark containment within the Habitat so as not to ignite flammable or explosive gases outside the Habitat. In other words, we are creating a non-classified working zone inside a classified area.

In the Habitat industry the usual sizes of panels range from 1x1, 1x2 to 2x2 meter panels. The “standard” Habitat would likely be something like 2m x 2m x 2m. Those panel/Habitat sizes are not always the best solution when building on a real life platform. Therefore functionality, usability, flexibility and modularity of the industry standard panels and Habitats can be limited. The Tri-Diamond™ design was developed to provide solutions for any condition or situation without the limitations seen in the “standard” panels/Habitats. The Tri-Diamond™ is far superior and is set apart by its versatility.

The Tri-Diamond™ panels are connected and sealed together with fire retardant hook and loop. The Tri-Diamond™ panel’s flexible design can accommodate any obstacle and various sizes of pipework, structural steel and other components to penetrate and be integrated into the Tri-Diamond™ Habitat. These openings are resealed by employing different types of material and consumables to ensure that pressurization and spark containment are maintained. The Tri-Diamond™ panels can easily be replaced or removed to allow rigging, pipes or any other object to be incorporated into or removed from the Habitat and then re-sealed quickly. Tri-Diamond™ Habitat can quickly and easily be dismantled and moved to another location.

The potential sizes, dimensions and configurations are virtually limitless. You name it, we can do it.

The Automatic Shutdown System

Our patent-pending Automatic Safety Shutdown System is designed as an emergency shutdown system that is capable of giving audio and visual warning based on gas sensor readings at the air intake and/or inside or outside the Habitat to enable manual shutdown or automatically terminate any equipment associated with the work going on inside the Habitat.

The Automatic Safety Shutdown System is unique due to its modularity. We can, at any time, configure the system to the needs and desires of our client. The system can monitor for 17 different gases but only 5 at a time. That gives more than 10,000 different configurations.

The Automatic Safety Shutdown System will in the most common setup monitor for Lower explosive limit (LEL), poisonous gases like Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) and Hydrocarbons plus Oxygen (O2). Additionally we check for pressure difference between the inside of the Habitat and the outside, temperature and humidity level.

The Automatic Safety Shutdown System is controlled by a programmable logic controller (PLC) unit which can be placed inside or outside of Habitat. The control box with the PLC inside is the size of a laptop so it is easy to move around and it does not take up too much space.

From the control box we monitor gases and pressure plus at the same time we control blasting, welding, grinding, power, TSA, etc to all Hot-Work inside the Habitat. In case of detection of gases or loss of pressure all equipment shutdowns automatically. It is also possible for our certified technicians to manually shutdown if deemed necessary.


The TUFF Emergency Gas Extraction system consists of hard ducts running from each Habitat in use to a flame arrestor mounted on a high point where it will be safe to release gasses such as hydrocarbons or LEL into the atmospheric air.

The TUFF Emergency Gas Extraction system is controlled through the TUFF Automatic Safety Shutdown System and is automatically activated in the event of gas detection inside or around the Habitat.


The TUFF Pressure Solution is designed to ensure either continual negative or positive pressure within the Habitat. In case of using negative pressure the purpose is to contain any possible hydrocarbon leak that might happen when performing blasting or applying coating on the pipes and/or vessels. When using positive pressure the purpose is to keep any flammable, explosive or poisonous gasses outside of the Habitat.

In order to provide a negative pressure atmosphere within the Habitat, we utilize a number of HVAC Units, which also provides temperature control and dehumidification in tandem with our Dust Collection System. In order to provide positive pressure we utilize our custom made blowers/fans for as well intake as output air.

TUFFss Certified Hot-Work Safety Technicians

TUFFss™ places all our technicians through an intensive and thorough training to become Certified Safety Technicians. This training teaches our technicians to understand what Hot-Work is and be professionals in all safety procedures to prevent accidents concerning Hot-Work. The training also gives them a thorough understanding of our products and services so they can act as experts to our client’s questions and concerns. Providing our technicians with the Hot-Work safety knowledge gives them an understanding as to why they are erecting a Habitat and the purposes of the Habitat. Our technicians goes through various simulations and real life situations of challenging obstacles to assemble the Habitat in a SAFE manner and efficient time frame. The training ensures that all our technicians have the knowledge and experience to provide our clients with the optimal solutions in any situation.
